Setting out across the island by train means putting your name on a waiting list, and weeks or months of waiting....*CZ: Pridelovy sytem. Emigrace. Beautiful nature, the ocean, paradise. Tourists. Socialism and permanent revolution. Fidel Castro, Che and the others. This is Cuba. The "Island of Freedom".Many Cubans try to escape the "Island of Freedom", as government propaganda calls it, on rickety crafts, homemade rafts. Across the powerful sea currents of the Caribbean, and lacking any deeper nautical knowledge, people set out towards Florida, for the USA. On the shore near Havana, sad scenes take place, where often part of the family has to remain in Cuba and part of the family sets out on a dangerous journey, often ending with drowning or as shark bait..*CZ: Pridelovy sytem.
